There are many ways to pay less on your Kentucky State health insurance policy. But at the same time, a number of methods people adopt in order to reduce cost generally result in less than adequate coverage. I don't generally recommend such options as they defeat the main aim of insurance in the first place. Bearing this in mind, I'll only give you tips that will also have you well covered despite saving you much. Here they are...
1. It pays to stay with the same insurer. A number of insurance providers will give you discounts of about 5% once you stay with them for over 3 years while others will give you discounts for staying up to 5 years. The longer you stay with the same insurer, the more the discount you are likely to attract.
But in some cases it's better to leave for some other insurer.
Supposing your premium with your current insurer is $2,500 you will get a discount of about 5% or $125 if you stay for at least three years.
But we can almost say with a level of certainty that because of inflation and the rising cost of health care your premium might not remain the same. Between these three years you might get an insurer who will offer you comparable coverage or better for under $2,000. Then it won't be wise to stay put because you want to become eligible for a discount down the road even if the expected discount is less than savings you'll get immediately if you switch.
It's a sure fact that most people can pay far less with another insurance company if they will only make out time to shop extensively.. Considering that the process of getting and comparing quotes requires just minutes, I will wonder why you won't do that now and get lower rates straight away.
2. A group health expense sharing plan is another way to reduce your rate. This is a plan where a group of people teams up to provide themselves health insurance coverage. They are usually found in big organizations like churches.
Policies and scope of coverage are different from group to group.
Try to find groups like this and find out if any of them will meet your personal health insurance needs. Spotting a group like this that takes care of your requirement could get you coverage at a lower rate.
3. Your drug cost may sometimes be cheaper than your co-pay. It may also be cheaper for you to buy a prescription out of the pocket (without using insurance). Find out which is applicable in each case and do what profits you more.
4. An easy but smart way of reducing your rate is by authorizing an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). This authorizes your insurer to automatically withdraw your payments from your account at specified intervals. This saves costs by eliminating the need for payment notices or checks. This is why this results in discounts.
5. Buying your prescriptions on the internet is a sure way to bring down your health care costs. Buying by telephone might as well give you lower prices. Drugs are more affordable online because the cost of running a business is considerably lower with the internet.
But to ensure you're buying from a good company, check. Just visit BBB online and you will know if you should buy from an exact company.
This is really very important as you don't want to risk your life all in the name of trying to save money.
6. You could save some hundreds of dollars by just receiving and evaluating quotes from not less than five insurance quotes sites. And, it will require just about 25 minutes on the whole.
Here are great quotes sites (Highly recommended)...
